IE7 being a pain.

Friend has this computer in which IE7 locks up on occasion if you have two browser windows open. It only happens occasionally, save one exception - if the second window has AddictingGames.com up, it ALWAYS locks up IE7. Any ideas?

(This friend refuses to use FF and I'd like to fix the problem so they'll stop calling me and bugging me to fix it.)

TIA.

I doubt it's IE7. If there is locking up involved, it might be a hardware problem. Have you tested the memory?

Didn't even cross my mind. I'll do that now and report back.

    Thanks!

    Prime and his memtest obsession.

edit:Checking the memory is a good idea but first see if it happens in firefox.

edit: You try disabling the flash plugin in the addon managment ?.

Memtest has been running six hours, and nada. I'll let it run overnight, but it doesn't look promising.

Yes, it works in Firefox - if only this person'd shut up and use it.

And no, but I'm about to.

    It's Flash.

Now what do I do about it?

Run the manual plugin installer for it it should override the old files,
if the flash install became corrupt I would also suggest running chkdsk /f and to make sure the file system is still fully intact and theres just no file system corruption.

..Ntfs doesn't always reliese its damaged

Glad to hear everything worked out.

Also was the file system intact ?. NTFS sometimes breaks and it doesn't notice it till its too damaged to be easily repaired X_X.

I've seen some issues with Flash player in IE7. Disabling and going to their website and having it re-download works most of the time.
