Polling more than 400 software developers and IT managers, EDC concluded that targeted development on *NIX-based platforms is on the rise at the cost of Windows focus. The study concludes that WIN32-focused development has declined from 74% to 64% over the last year.
While Linux users were quick to point out the growing strength of Linux as a platform, which is true, they fail to illustrate that their significant traction resides strictly in an exclusive environment: Software development and/or IT sandboxes.
