I have just installed Call of duty, Great game but whenever I play online I keep getting pop ups. One says most woman say their husbands penis isn't big enough another says "arn't pop ups irritating go to xxx to stop them" Yes they bloody well are. I am behind a NAT router and Zone Alarm pro and all the settings seem ok. I only get this with Call of Duty mp. Any ideas how to stop them?

Right click my computer --> manage --> services --> Messenger service. Stop the messenger service and disable it. You don't need it.

    Cheers Prime.
I'll let you know how it goes but why should it only have started with COD? and doesn't seem to occure with anything else?

Spammers have your IP now. It is most likeley a coincidence that it's happening with CoD.

Either that, or CoD is opening the messenger port to a spammer.

    slightly off topic.

I know how to send those mssages over a LOCAL network, but how is it done over the internet??? I would like to harass my friends with it. ;)

    bothered had this to say
    Bad boy croc, Bad boy.

I am a good boy. I already harass my roommates GF with it. She was whoring all our bandwidth so I sent her this:

"Message from: Microsoft" "Virus Detected, Please turn off all downloads and restart your computer"

Then I hear: "Oh **** YUKIO (her BF, my roommate) YOU HAVE A VIRUS, WHAT SHOULD I DO?!?!"

Good times. So anyone know? you can PM it to me I don't mind ;)

I've noticed these bastards when I set my DMZ. Suddenly ads appear in the middle of doing nothing.

I used Shoot The Messenger to kill it off.
Gibson Research always think of new things to patch.
    Shoot The Messenger

Note ths will not effect msn messenger, only windows messenger.
    The one causing the pop-ups.

Gibson has several other nifty utillities on the site.

I believe you use the IP as opposed to a local computers hostname.

I managed to trick a mate into sending "You're a Fag" to everyone on our subnet by telling him * sent it to the last person you sent it to, Very funny hearing every PC in the room bleep and knowing the other few hundred PC's on the floor all did too :)

All you need to do is do a net send to a range of IP's.

On a side note there a lovely little trick you can do that will allow you to shutdown or restart any computer you wish on a network. Just create a new shortcut and when it asks the location type in "shutdown -i" (without the quotes).

Should give u hours of fun, pissing off roommates and anyone else

    Hi
    I agree with MJO.
I have shoot the messenger, and it works fine.
I still use MSN messenger, and I don't seem to have problems.
