Quickie forum?

I'd like to set up a quickie forum on an internal business network. Are there any nearly out-of-the-box solutions for doing that? Note: I know jack about web development.

I wouldn't have to worry about security (Intranet only), fancy looks, modifications, or anything like that. All I want is a threaded discussion organization with attachments enabled.

I'm leaving my job in about a month, and this is intended to disseminate information in a persistent way to co-workers that will have to take over for me. It would be the easiest way to organize the things I've worked on, procedures I've used, and helpful hints I've picked up while I've been working here, and could serve as a reference after I'm gone.

Because I'm leaving soon, I don't have much time to learn about setting up a forum (as it is, I'll probably have to be doing this on my own time). If there isn't something pretty straightforward, I'll just have to email all the info to my co-workers. The bummer of that is that eventually all of the info I send out will be lost or at least difficult to locate. C'est la vie.

Joomla not necessary, and also it's not that easy to set up. I'd say phpbb. Just make SURE it's not exposed to the internet in any way, it's notoriously high maintenance with security patches.

Forgive me ignorance, but does a forum need a CMS like Joomla as a frontend, or can it stand on its own?

    Edit: Prime posted, nevermind :)

I was also looking at bbPress. Would that be any easier?

Looks like either way I'll need to figure out how to set up a MySQL database, right?
