If anyone at the LAN saw the box I recently built, this is the one with the blue LED front. I built the machine for the LAN, ordered the parts 2 weeks before - thought I'd see if anyone on here is interested. Plays BF2, HL2DM, etc fine on high settings. Great machine to game on. I can do a few benchmarks if people are interested. The box is exactly one month old, so it's basically brand new.

Here's the invoice list from newegg for this machine. All of the components were new, no open box, no recertified, etc.:

At the time I'm writing this, if you add all of those components to a cart, it comes out to $686.31 + shipping + putting it together. I'd be happy to cover shipping for anyone in the lower 48 for any offers above $625. If you'd like to pay for shipping, feel free to name a lower price. I'm looking to ship this weekend.

I'm starting my own company, every little bit helps, and I already have a laptop. Thanks!

    sale pending.

I should mention that I have since gotten a Linksys PCI 802.11G wireless card and a 24-bit 7.1-channel surround sound card for this machine. The wireless card will stay with me, but the sound card goes with the machine.

Some other notes I should have mentioned:
For a good comparison, let's have a look at some new stories. My goal for this rig was to have a capable overclocker for as cheap as possible, since I was building it primarily for the LAN.

Are there other rigs that will be of higher performance? Sure, for an extra $3000.00 there are rigs that will blow it out of the water. My goal for this rig was to be able to do everything - machine, LCD, G5, surround-sound headset, etc. for under $1000, and I did it.

This isn't to day the D805 is some crappy processor. Tom's Hardware overclocked theirs to 4.1Ghz - 3.2Ghz on stock cooling and voltage. That article was primarily why I went for this build. I was looking to have someone at the LAN help me overclock it to 3.0-3.2Ghz, but any time someone was available (non-gaming times) it was during the day, with 80-degree ambient temps... not good for OCing.

The rest of the components speak for themselves, I guess. The x1950PRO is one of the best ATi-based cards you can buy, I got ATi so I could GPU fold with it. Zalman is one of my favorite coolers, no problems with them, ever. Power supply was about 10x nicer than I thought it would be. Case is very nice - blue backlighting on the front is actually from a factory cathode tube, not LED's. Not too much to say about the HD and optical drives, except I got a DVD drive so I could watch movies on the machine.

Long story short, I'm typing on the machine right now and enjoy using it very much. I'll miss it a lot. But I could use the cash to start up a business I'm working on. I have an Employee Discount plan through my work for Dell machines, so I'll probably pick up the cheapest desktop available. I'll miss playing HL2DM and BF2 on high graphics settings though.

If you've got anyone around Chicago that might want to come test it out, that's fine with me, just let me know.

ok, parting out. A few people want specific parts (vid card, etc), so I'll give preference to those who are willing to purchase multiple parts.

I'm taking 20% off of the current price on newegg on everything. This machine was ordered and built with new, non-refurbished parts from newegg 2 weeks before ICLAN07. Free shipping on everything but the case.
