edited August 2007 in Science & Tech
I keep getting a message that Norton Internet Worm Protection has detected and blocked an intrusion attempt.

Intrusion: Invalid UDP Destination Port,
Intruder: 192.168.1.97
Risk Level: Medium

Please help. I just downloaded Ares 2.0.9 today and downloaded 2 songs and it started!

Any IP address that starts with 192.168.x.x is what's called a Class C IP address. Class C IP addresses can only be used on internal networks, and are never assigned as IP addresses by service providers or other IP-assigning bodies. They were specifically designed to allow devices inside a network to have IP addresses, while the real IP addresses (Below 192.x.x.x) were distributed to routers, or directly-connected computers.

If I had to hazard a guess, I would say Ares was scanning the network for shared folders to pull up during a search. Since I don't know the subtleties of Ares' programming (And I don't trust it to install it), that's the best guess I can ever cough up.

But, hey, welcome to Icrontic! :) Stick around.

I like Ares. Use it all the time, and never had any problems at all, not like that crappy LimeWire.
