HD installation issues

I have XP on a SATA boot drive and another SATA storage drive which I'm trying to replace by adding a Samsung 500GB SATA HD. I remove the old storage drive and plug in the new, which is recognized in BIOS but when it starts to boot I get an error message "verifying dmi pool data" "boot fromCD/DVD:"
I put the xp disc in but nothing happens.
Anyone have any ideas?

    Make sure that you have the drives set correctly so they are in the right boot order. GO into your bios and make sure that the right drive is your primary drive.
