VIA announces new CPU for 1Q08

Code-named "CN" in development, the Isaiah core from VIA will represent the first new architecture since 2005. While VIA's reigning C7 chip has had a long and prosperous life for what it was designed to do, the encroachment of ULV Athlon 64 CPUs on PicoBTX boards has left VIA in something of a panic, we reckon.
While Isaiah will not have any clockspeed increases, and the power consumption will be raised slightly, it will boast a 1333MHz FSB and 65nm technology. With four times the FPU performance and double the performance per clock over its predecessor, it looks like a much-needed injection of power in the VIA lineup.
