Dell wants better ATi drivers for Linux

At the "Ubuntu Live 2007" conference Dell was in attendance to celebrate the new partnership between Dell and Ubuntu. At this conference, Amit Bhutani, a Dell rep, spoke out against ATi and hoped that better drivers were on their way. Bhutani claims that he doesn't care if they're open source or not, as long as they're better.

While ATi is at the head of the pack for driver engineering on Vista, it's a distant second for XP and Linux. You can read more: Here

    I want better ATI drivers for Linux too. ATI's proprietary driver isn't nearly as good as the reverse-engineered open-source driver. Unfortunately, the open source driver only has 3D support up to the R2xx GPUs. As a result, I get better gaming performance on my FireGL 8800 than on my Radeon 9800 Pro.
