BSOD and reset on boot with SATA enabled in BIOS

edited July 2007 in Hardware
I just got my laptop back from HP after sending it in for repairs. They felt the need to reimage the drive so I decided to install from the DVDs they included with all the bloatware. From this, I extracted the proper parts to burn a Windows XP MCE install CD so I could avoid the uneccessary software. Everything went as planned except that to install it, I had to disable SATA support in my BIOS. The install completed just fine, but when I went back to enable SATA support again, every boot came up with a bluescreen then reboots again to get another bluescreen. If I go back into the BIOS and disable SATA again, it boots just fine. If anybody could give me a tip on this, I'd greatly appreciate it.
