Vista versus Remote Desktop

My newest frustration with <ST1:pVista</ST1:p. I set up two Vista Home Premium boxes today. We VPN in through a SonicWALL, then use Remote Desktop to reach a terminal server. Now….I get this. When I log in as shown on the first screen shot, we go to the server’s IP address as NETBIOS doesn’t play well over the VPN.
<O:p</O:p
In the second screen shot, it tried to login as IP address/username.
<O:p</O:p
In the third screen shot you can see how it tries to log in to the server. It craps out, then I have to have my very un-savy users retype their user name w/o the IP address. Then they’re in.
<O:p</O:p
I played with it for about a half hour. Couldn’t get around it. It insists on putting the IP address in front of the user.
Also talked to a IT services group I work with who tells me they’ve had lots of problems with <ST1:pVista</ST1:p and Remote Desktop.
<O:p</O:p
On another note, anyone see that PC World article where the President of Acer came out and said <ST1:pVista</ST1:p isn’t working?
