Too many start-ups/running processes HELP?

I noticed this machine's got 55+ running processes shortly after boot up ... could use some help with what I need (and don't) to shut down and how. I just downloaded AVG's anti virus and working on issues with getting virus list updated so I'm trying to shut down Norton totally without deleting (may want it later ... not sure). Here's the HJT startup logfile ... I'm posting the whole thing ... hope it's not OVERKILL.

Firs things are that unless you are really into working with graphics you don't need adobe's gamma loader. Also drop the adobe reader speed launcher not needed.

Next you can drop the HP digital Image program totally useless - I'd sugget uninstalling it completely. I'd also remove the HP updater. Their software doesn't get updated all that frequently and I've found the updater to be buggy as hell and it's much better to get them manually. Typically they update all their extra software that came with the printer as the print drivers are seldom touched.

Seriously uninstall norton. It's not doing anything for you and AVG on a personal computer is as good at catching viruses and has much less overhead. The only good Norton anti-virus program is Norton Corporate edition.

If you are using both MSN messenger and Yahoo messenger you can save overhead and use a program like Pigeon (used to be called Gaim) or Trillian which are instant messenger programs that support multiple protocols.

Next thing to into window explorer and look at your harddrive properties and on the general tab at the bottom you'll see a line about Drive Indexing. Remove the Checkmark and apply that to all files and folders that'll make a huge difference, especially if you've been using a machine for awhile. It's an utterly useless setting that needs 10 times more overhead then the benefit it provides.

As for the rest of your Highjack log someone else can tare into it. :)
