IE Hijacked

This is on a fresh install of XP SP2 (within 7 days). I'm not sure what I got but some help would be much appreciated. But why can't there be a simple software that just removes these things? Going through this process seems like a huge hassle.

Sorry for the delay in replying. We are overladen with requests for help from time to time.

The initial comments on your log are .....

1. You have no java on your system. Running games (which I see you do) could be a problem. I'll fix that at the end of this post.

2. I'm not sure what you mean by "IE Hijacked". What is happening when you use IE? Are you being redirected to other sites you don't want to visit? If so ... which ones?

3. Please go to Virustotal here ....

Your Java is out of date. Older versions have vulnerabilities that malware can use to infect your system. Please follow these steps to remove older version Java components and update.

Updating Java:

• Download the latest version of Java Runtime Environment (JRE) 6.
• Scroll down to where it says "The J2SE Runtime Environment (JRE) allows end-users to run Java applications"…..
• Click the "Download" button to the right.
• Check the box that says: "Accept License Agreement".
• The page will refresh.
• Click on the link to download Windows Offline Installation with or without Multi-language and save to your desktop.
• Close any programs you may have running - especially your web browser.
• Go to Start > Control Panel double-click on Add/Remove programs and remove all older versions of Java.
• Check any item with Java Runtime Environment (JRE or J2SE) in the name.
• Click the Remove or Change/Remove button.
• Repeat as many times as necessary to remove each Java versions.
• Reboot your computer once all Java components are removed.
• Then from your desktop double-click on jre-6u2-windows-i586-p.exe to install the newest version.

Please post a fresh HJT log and an update on how the computer is behaving now. Are you still being hijacked?
