AMD has taken its current generation of K8 Opteron processors and has gained a bit more performance per watt & per clock. The new top of the line versions will ship in 2P(2224SE) & 4P(8224SE) models clocked at 3.2GHz and will consume 119 watts each.
AMD claims a 17%-37% performance increase depending on the benchmark over Intel’s current dual core Woodcrest chips, but failed to give us numbers comparing Intel’s Quad core. The 2224SE are set to ship for $873 for a 1000-unit tray and the 8224SE will be priced at a modest $2149.
Now lets get those engineers on the K10 setups...
