Big Green is fixing to give jolly Intel a what-for by cutting the prices of the X2 4000, 4200 and 4400. The firm is tight-lipped about the dollar value of the cut, but Icrontic's inside sources tell us that boxes of the popular Cracker Jack snack food may soon be arriving in 64bit flavors. Keep your eyes peeled, and visit TheInq for the scoop.

Time for some $59 CPUs :) and these are pretty fast processors. I use to run a 4400+ X2 and loved it.

    Current Prices:

    4000 X2 = $69.99
    4200 X2 = $79.99
    4400 X2 = $89.99

    AMD's rumored 15% price cut :)

    4000 X2 = $59.50
    4200 X2 = $68.00
    4400 X2 = $76.59

Which means sweet CPU's that are already cheap just got cheaper :)

    Man I remember when I paid $440 for my 4400 X2 :(

I think its time for a smooth box! How much ram you think a smoothwall router would need? I know that cpu is 5 times what it needs, but hell, if its $60... I was thinking mATX, 4000X2, and 512mb of ram. Of course I could always go ITX though I haven't really checked it out.

That would be a HELL of a smoothwall. My smoothwall which happily supports the 40+ people surfing simultaneously at the LAN, with a 500mb web cache, is a p4 1.8ghz with 512mb of ram. Your config will definitely do the trick :wtf:

lol. It'd cost me just as much to buy an old pos system off of someone. Why not. Maybe I'll go into the ISP business. All I'd need is a nice switch. Now I just have to make sure the cable company doesn't wonder why I have ethernet cables strung across to all my neighbors houses ;D
