CPU running slower than usual?

edited August 2007 in Hardware
HI all,
this is my 1st post.
i have a toshiba satellite laptop A105 which is
1.7 celeron
512 MB RAM
a basic APG card with has a buffer setting with the RAM and can go upto 128MB.

ive being playing Pro Evolution Soccer 6 on it for about 6-7months now and it used to run perfectly well on 600x800 resolution with "medium" detail level.
But all of a sudden for the last couple of dayz the game has been running slower with the ingame frame rate becoming very slow at times.

1st i though its a software or wondows XP problem so i installed windows again and then installed the game again and same problem still persists. ive even tried to use "low" details and resolution of 640x480 and same problem persists.

i have trendmicro 2006 installed and i update it regularly, so i dont think that i have a virus onboard or something. please let me know what to do, and how to fix this problem, as my laptop used to play this game perfectly well before.
Thanx for ur help.
Regards.

In XP, you can check your system resources usage in the task manager.

Open the task manager, and check how much of your CPU and RAM are being used at idle.

at idle my CPU usual is jumping around from 8% to 18%, it doesnt go beyond those figures. there are about 52 processes running at idle.
can u pls tell me where does it say how much RAM is being used??
    thanku.
