Windows Installation Not Completing

First off my computer would not get past the 'Setup is Starting windows' message and simply froze ... I followed some troubleshooting tips from another site and eventually made it through this part, the initial setup lets me format the hdd and it copies all files to the correct windows directory with no errors at all and then restarts the machine. Instead of starting the second part of the installation ( the 39 mins or whatever part) it loads the cd and begins the initial installation all over again. so I cancel the initial setup from going through again, remove the cd and try to boot from the hdd and it continuosly reboots the machine at the point it should load from the hdd. So I put the installation cd in again and let it go through until it asks me to format, I can clearly see that the installation files were moved to the hdd, because space has been used. Als oI can do repair console and it is an option to access the windows folder on my c:/ ... so I don't know how to get the computer to begin the second part of installation. Any help would be appreciated.

*** EDIT, I should probably mention that this is Windows XP Pro, and I've tried 5 different installation discs, changed all possible settings in the Bios, used different cd drives, and tested the Hdd and memory.

What motherboard? What ram? What type of HDD? Raid or no raid?

Don't remember specifics right now, but it's a DFI board, with Kingston Ram, Barracuda Hdd (sata), x1950 video.

    Thanks for the response!!

Oh and I should also point out that this is a reinstall, I had this OS working on this system but felt the need to format and reinstall, all parts on this computer are under a month old.

EDIT *** DFI INFINITY P965-S LGA 775 Intel P965 Express ATX Intel Motherboard
    Intel Core 2 Duo E6320 Conroe 1.86GHz LGA 775 Processor Model BX80557E6320
SAPPHIRE 100176L Radeon X1950PRO 256MB 256-bit GDDR3 PCI Express x16 HDCP Ready CrossFire Supported Video Card

    Memory is just 2 x 512MB Kingston

This board has the JMicron controller for IDE. Are you using an IDE DVD/CD drive?

If yes, you MUST install (from a floppy) the Jmicron driver (Press F6 when the install tells you to) or the install "loses" the DVD/CD drive when it boots to that part of setup.

When the XP disk is first booting....at the bottom it should say "Press F6 if you need to install a 3rd Party driver"

You need to press F6 when it tells you to and have the Jmicron controller floppy disk that came with the motherboard in a Floppy drive connected to the motherboard. The Install will continue to load a few things, then pause and ask you for a driver. Press "S" I believe and it will read the floppy and show you the drivers that are available on it. There should be only 1 and you just select it, let it load, then leave the floppy in the drive. Setup should continue and this time when it reboots...it should continue on.

i have an interesting delimma occuring here.....I've just installed a new Intel Motherboard (DG33TLM)...it has no floppy controller on the board. The system will be Raid 1 installed with windows xp pro. We do not have any external Floppy drives or usb floppy drives available. The board did come with the Raid controller drivers on a floppy, but i cannot install them during the windows installation process. My question is this....how do i effectively Slipstream these drivers into the windows xp pro setup....(mind you--i have tried several forums and ideas found on the internet to do this, but it still won't work)....i keep getting an Unmountable_boot_device error right after i get the screen that says "Starting windows" (before you can get to the "run the recovery console, or format the hard drives" screen)
