Printing problems

edited August 2007 in Science & Tech
Hi,

I had spyware problems 2 weeks (resolved now), but ever since I installed Zonealarm, Antivir, Windows Defender, and AVG antispyware, I've had problems printing. Not sure if it's due to the previous spyware infections or due to conflicts with the new programs. Printing doesn't work even if I disable the programs one by one. Symptoms usually include one of the following:

1) "The instruction at "0x000000000" referenced memory at "0x00000000". The memory could not be "read". Click OK to terminate program." (the numbers may vary.)

2) "Unknown error occurred during printing."

3) No error message; computer slows down for a 2-3 mins. Nothing printed.

Also, when I'm viewing a webpage and I go to "File" and click on "Print" or "Page setup" or "Print preview", the computer takes a long time to display (wasn't like this before). The only time I can print is when I open Control Panels, go to my printers, and print a test page. Can't print at any other time, i.e. no pdfs, no printing webpages, no printing from any application. Does anyone know how to resolve this? Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

P.S. For your info, I am using network printers. (None work)

Hm, try reinstalling your printers drivers/software. One of the programs may have deleted or quarantined one of the printer's files.

Ok, I've done that, and managed to get one of the printers working, but not the other one (print jobs go into the queue, but no printing occurs). Good enough. Thanks for the tips!
