Explorer/IExplorer Seem Corrupt
Hello Everyone,
The secretary's XP machine, at the non-profit where I donate time, went blank (as in just wallpaper/screensaver with no tool/taskbar) at Tuesday morning's bootup. Nothing untoward was noticed during the previous day's functioning. However, the XP machine (their main workstation) has been effectively unuseable since Monday evening.
I have completed all preparation steps outlined in "Steps To Take Before Posting a HijackThis Log!" as well as in "Smitfraud/Trojan.Zlob Removal - AntiVermin, VirusBurster, Video ActiveX Object, etc.." and "Virtumonde/Vundo/Winfixer/MSEvents/ATLDistrib/WTLHelper Infection Removal". My apologies if I've missed something which I should have done prior to submitting a new thread.

Again, I have AVG (and McAfee) installed. (I installed AVG yesterday because I couldn't get to the McAfee command line.) I have run a full AVG scan with no bad-things found. I have run Spyware/bot searches and have cleaned all found stuff (nothing really bad) off. I did a Windows "sfc /scannow". And, the XP machine still boots to a pleasingly-blue, blank screen with no taskbar.
Any ideas ?

Again, I have AVG (and McAfee) installed. (I installed AVG yesterday because I couldn't get to the McAfee command line.) I have run a full AVG scan with no bad-things found. I have run Spyware/bot searches and have cleaned all found stuff (nothing really bad) off. I did a Windows "sfc /scannow". And, the XP machine still boots to a pleasingly-blue, blank screen with no taskbar.
Any ideas ?

Looks like y'all are busy on other things. No problem.
I've decided to rebuild the machine: (a) I gotta get the organization going, (b) even if we/I/you came up with a fix, the main account used is an "Administrator" account, and (c) this gives me a chance to standardize/vanilla-ize the workstation.
