Mising or corrupt: \windows\sytem32\onfig\system

edited August 2007 in Hardware
hello everyone just found this site. I need some help with getting back into Toshiba Satellite Pro 6100 running windows XP. I get the following message:

windows could not start because the following file i mising or corrupt:
\windows\sytem32\onfig\system.

Windows XP came pre-installed and i was never given an XP disc. I also find i cannot get to the c: prompt to re-install the last working registry. any ideas where to go to next? thanks

If you're system did not come with a windows disk, then it came with a set of Restore disks (or prompted you to make some) those restore disks will return your system back to factory state.

Those 'discs' may also be in a seperate partition available during bootup - look for messages like hit F2 for boot menu and such like, it may be a seperate boot choice? you may have to hit F10 or something to access it
