AMD 90nm Process Delayed

edited November 2003 in Science & Tech
A REPORT ON EE Times said Hector Ruiz, AMD's CEO, has slipped by one quarter and its 90 nanometer microprocessors won't now be produced in the first half of next year.

Ruiz, said the magazine, had hoped to produce its 90 nano process during the first half of 2004, but he conceded in an analyst conference call that volume production of chips using its technology won't happen until the third quarter.

AMD is always 1-3 quarters late with new technology. Remember how long after the P4 .13 Northwoods it took AMD to deliver the .13 Thoroughbreds (9months). Even then it took another year for them to get it right (Tbred A (April 02-> Tbred B (Nov 02) -> Barton (Mar 03))

Fortunately for them Intel's .09nm Prescott P4 is almost a year late also.......
