My friend (Jokerz4fun on the forums) has a $600 budget and he wants a new hdtv/monitor.

This is what he needs:

VGA/DVI/HDMI/Component inputs
Flatscreen (LCD)
Audio

Any recommendations?

Did I mention he wants to buy this locally, today?

So I guess that means no newegg links, etc... Unless you just want to show the specs :D

No no brian I would go to new egg or any other site, I just wanted to buy it today. That way they can ship it tomorrow and I could have it buy saturday.

Bestbuy has a sale $50-$400 off on select LCD HDTV's right now...

will you be happy with 720p/1080i? cause 1080p will be hard in that price range.

dude I dont care I mean I dont have to stop at 600. It would be nice but Id rather pay more and have a great pic then pay less and kick myself in da butt. I just wanted to stay around 600 bucks thats all.

I do need to save money so I can tip like a baller when I go back to the bar no need to do the walk of shame

Damn him,,its ok last time me and brian went in there she asked where our dad was,,,BAWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

I really dont need a dvi but I would like to have a built in hdtv tuner. That would be a big big plus

Hey thanks for the links thats not a bad deal at all

yea Westinghouse are pretty sweet. I have a 42" 1080p and love it. That model has the built-in tuner and DVI, but is limited to 720p/1080i

Ive heard of them but I really haven't seen any in person.

I think it should still look great with 720/1080. Or I could be sadly mistaken

720p is perfectly fine, until you buy blu-ray or hd-dvd. Thrax(Rob) is the man to talk to about it. 1080p on the cheap doesn't exist right now.

Your mom looks great in 1080, Scotty. YEEEEEEEEEEAH.

//edit: That TV is actually pretty great for the price. Westinghouse is a newer entrant to HDTVs, but a good one.

dude my mom looks hot naked in person,,,,wha? wait,,,,,I mean no,,,umm shut up.

Yeah I might just get that, I really dont care about blu ray or hd-dvds yet. The key word is yet. Im just sick of my tv and the high pitch hiss it makes when I turn it on.

So which one do I go with best buy or new egg?

If I go best buy at least I can return it there if something goes wrong but its a 100 more. Speaking of a 100 bucks you should see what my mom would do for that kinda cash,,,,wha? no,,,sick,,,god! wheres the damn backspace key

The Westinghouse is equipped with an HDMI, which means it's ready for HD-DVD or Blu-Ray should you ever want to go that route. It's a steal for the price.

I saw a 32" westinghouse lcd advertised from bestbuy....check that one out, probably the only decent tv you could get for under $600 at a local store.
