I'm trying to decide if I want to get a 2600 Barton or a XP2700. The price dif is $7.00 and will OC either one. I was running pretty good with my old one but am lookin for something new that will give me more. I was running 11.5x200 (2300) when I wasn't running 11.5x210 (2420).

    I'd get the Barton... I think it's more OC'able... Isn't the 2700 a 1.65 VCore Tbred-b?

    Yes, the 2700 is a 1.65v Tbred-B. It won't even touch a Barton or a DLT3C 1700/1800.

Already checked and both are on my NF7-S.

They also have 2000 and 220 Thorton's but haven't seen what week they are.

    No

Thay was my main reason for the 2600 over the 2500 and it is only $4.00 more.

Barton 2600, m8. I think those are high clockers and you might get a good stepping as most of the peeps have bought the 2500 which now are all locked. Remember, try to get as low batchnumber as possible. More important than the week. Below hundred (0099) is very good. Below 50 (0049) is AWESOME.

mtgoat: Did you get the CPU? Which did you decide on? What's the date/batch? Also, how did you check with Frys that the ones they have are unlocked (by how, I mean what method did you use)?

When I got the bundled deals @ Fry's a month or two ago with the ECS + 1800+ combo I asked the guy about the stepping. Only thing that showed up in the computer was DUT3C. I decided to get it anyway, but when I got the chip it was a DLT3C. I decided to get 2 additional bundles :D:D:D.

My point: Don't trust the computer when checking . . . double check the CPU at the register.
