Dual boot and Vista

edited August 2007 in Science & Tech
I have Vista as my main OS and recently deleted the partition with XPpro on it as I no longer needed it. Does anyone know how to remove the the start up screen where it asks what OS I want to use?

Boot your XP disc to recovery console. Type:

    fixboot
    fixmbr

    Reboot.

I love ya Thrax but that won't fix his problem.

He just wants to get rid of the boot menu he can boot just fine? He just needs to fix the boot.ini file I think.

fixboot and fixmbr fixs a corrupt disk and solves boot problems.

He boots fine and just wants rid of the dual boot menu.

I would say just edit the boot.ini file and remove the XP entry

    Cheers

There is nothing in the boot.ini for the dual boot. Vista was different to get it to dual boot but I cant google and find anything that says how to remove the entry to allow it to be able to boot to XP

Yes I can boot into Vista just fine.

I misread, and we were both wrong.

Get a program called Vista Boot Pro, and you can edit the Vista bootloader (Which is stored on the MBR -- not boot.ini, normally accessed with BCDEDIT.EXE in vista).
