Trojan Win32.agent.qt virus on my pc

I have had this file forever in my new pc, and I think it is giving me all this spyware: Adrevolver, Advertising.com, Doubleclick, Hitbox, etc. every time I do my ewido scan and spybot, it detects the same stuff. The file infected is /Windows/retadup1000520.exe. how do i get rid of it :(

    Please follow the instructions here, and post back with the HijackThis log requsted.

    Also, have you navigated to the particular file you mentioned and tried deleting it?

    I did not see anything strange in the hijackthis log when I encountered the same problem last time which was reaccuring tracking cookies and win32.agent trojan. I did manually delete these, even tried in safe mode but it ends up coming back with the rest of the stuff.

    I did some searching and found out that they can still be in my system restore, so i went ahead and disabled that (I never use it ever in my life). I just switched from AVG to Kaspersky 7.0 while running Zonearlarm. After disabling system restore I installed Kasp, got updates and did a full system scan and I was clean. I will have to try all my scan again which are Spybot S&D, Ewido, and Kasp.

    Can you head off to VirusTotal, and submit the following file for analysis?

    the results for spybot where lower, did not detect a win32 file. ewido was lower as well but still had reaccuring trackers. Here is the log of the file i uploaded. ON a scale from 1 to 10, how bad is it?

    Download SDFix and save it to your Desktop.

    Double click SDFix.exe and it will extract the files to %systemdrive%
    (Drive that contains the Windows Directory, typically C:\SDFix)

    Please then reboot your computer in Safe Mode by doing the following :
    • Restart your computer
    • After hearing your computer beep once during startup, but before the Windows icon appears, tap the F8 key continually;
    • Instead of Windows loading as normal, the Advanced Options Menu should appear;
    • Select the first option, to run Windows in Safe Mode, then press Enter.
    • Choose your usual account.
    • Open the extracted SDFix folder and double click RunThis.bat to start the script.
    • Type Y to begin the cleanup process.
    • It will remove any Trojan Services and Registry Entries that it finds then prompt you to press any key to Reboot.
    • Press any Key and it will restart the PC.
    • When the PC restarts the Fixtool will run again and complete the removal process then display Finished, press any key to end the script and load your desktop icons.
    • Once the desktop icons load the SDFix report will open on screen and also save into the SDFix folder as Report.txt
      (Report.txt will also be copied to Clipboard ready for posting back on the forum).
    • Finally paste the contents of the Report.txt back on the forum with a new HijackThis log

    Please run HijackThis and place a checkmark by the following entries:

    Close all other windows except HijackThis and press "Fix Checked". Then close HijackThis and restart the computer.


    Download Avenger from here:
    http://swandog46.geekstogo.com/

    Open the program. Check the 'Input script manually' option.
    Click the Magnifying Glass icon.
    In the box that opens, paste this:
    Files to delete:
    C:\WINDOWS\system32\avgss.exe
    and click 'Done'.

    Click the Traffic Light icon to start the program, and OK the prompts to reboot your PC.

    Post the Avenger output.txt (which you can find at C:\Avenger\.txt), along with a new HijackThis log.

    The avenger gave me a error code:
    Error: selected file does not appear to be a valid script.
    Error code: 1813

    I just remembered I have ...Windows\b122.exe and retadpu1000520.exe in my AVG Virus Vault. Could this be the problem?


    After deleting the avgss.exe from hijackthis, asked if i wanted to allow or block c:/windows/system32/avgss.exe what should I select?

    The avenger gave me a error code:
    Error: selected file does not appear to be a valid script.
    Error code: 1813
    Are you sure you copied everything in the quote box I posted above, including "Files to delete"?
    After deleting the avgss.exe from hijackthis, asked if i wanted to allow or block c:/windows/system32/avgss.exe what should I select?

    I was to annoyed with this along with other problems on my PC that was slowing it down incredibly, so i formatted. I just did SPYbot scan and I am getting these things: I made sure i installed AVG and zonealarm, before getting on the internet. THe only time I went on the internet was to do the AVG updates. I did some quick searching and found that ALexa is from IE6 SP1, put in by microsoft. I also did and AVG scan and no threats found.
    EDIT: I just noticed what the registry change was, thats not a problem

    Advertising.com, DoubleClick, FastClick and MediaPlex are all cookies, nothing much to worry about.

    Regarding Alexa...it's just a registry entry that creates a menu item which points to a local web page that points to an MSN search page that uses the Alexa engine.


    It's fine to fix everything in Spybot S&D. Then rescan again, and see if anything else is detected.
