Apple has invited the <strike>circus</strike> press and other "higher-ups" to one of their special events which will be held tomorrow. The event will start at 10:00am PDT/12:00pm CST/1:00pm EDT.
What is in store for this event? Well no one knows for sure but over the past two weeks we have seen rumors pop up all over the interweb.
The first, and probably the most reliable, rumor, was about the release of a new iPod Nano which has been appropriately dubbed the "iPod phatty". A picture was leaked to Engadget a couple weeks ago. The quality of the picture was sub-par and revealed a iPod that is short like the current Nano but with a bigger screen, similar to the current 5th generation iPods. Engadget quickly posted the picture on their website. Less than 24 hrs later Apple's legal team made Engadget remove the picture. The picture can still be found via Google Image Search (2nd row, all the way to the left). Apple is usually notorious for not commenting or acting on rumors that come up about their pre-released products. The fact that they went to all the trouble to send their team of lawyers knocking on Engadget's door all but confirms the new "iPod Phatty".
The second rumor, which seems to be confirmed today by ThinkSecret, states that Apple will release a new generation iPod featuring a large touch screen identical to the iPhone. This is only logical since it would be much easier for Apple to have the touch screen mass-manufactured to be used with the iPhone and the new iPods.
Lastly, a couple other rumors that have been floating around the internet have been a new RED iPod products, iTunes ringtones for the iPhone, and Beatles coming to iTunes (how many times have we heard this?).

from what i've seen the new ipod looks like the iphone, with the touch screen, coverflow etc, but is just an ipod. of course it will be interesting to see if the new ipod has any secret iphone software locked down or not.
rumors say the new high-end model is going to be 160gb, which would be great.
tomorrow ill be following the keynote on engadget for sure ha
But Steve and crew updated the whole iPod line up + 1.. the new iPod Touch.
