I normally wouldn't post contests here, but this is not a bad deal: From September 25th through September 27th, all Xbox Live Silver accounts will be upgraded to Gold - for three days you can play online with other players. This is not just for Halo 3, it goes for all games.
If you register your gamertag with Best Buy (yes, you'll probably get signed up to a Best Buy spam mailing list), you get entered into a drawing with some pretty decent prizes:
