SMx/ICx Status Report

As QCH2002 has said,
The SMx Committee is in the process of overhauling the entire project in order to increase production of each rig (machine) and improve reliability of the hardware. We want our SMx project to grab as many work units as possible, do it consistently, and do it as efficiently as possible.

To that means.... We are recalling all rigs that have been unstable and under performing. We will re-release the rigs when we have the funds available. Many of the rigs will be offered up for new hosts...

In this event we have a ton of project rigs to revamp. With a few rigs already heading back we have been taking steps to increase the team’s funds by setting up an Amazon store front to sell off the old parts to help raise cash to buy new parts to re-equip these team rigs to fold at a beneficial rate for the team and for the hosts.

In this effort I would like to ask any team or non team member with extra PC parts or even full PC’s to donate these items to the team to either be used in the refresh or to be sold at our Amazon store to help generate cash for the refresh. We are also accepting cash donations to the team for the same reasons.

While things for the overall team have been quite, the storm is coming… and the only thing we will see is points raining down on the entire project.

If you are able to donate parts please send me a PM for details on where to ship them.

If you want to donate cash to the team feel free to do so by click on the User CP link in the upper left and find the Paid Subscriptions tab to the left side.

If you have questions or comments feel free to posy them in this thread.

Can we have an idea of min specs of parts to donate?

For the most part we are going to be targeting Intel systems based on the 775 socket & AMD systems based on the AM2 socket which will support both Dual Core & Quad Core to future proof our team investments. Which means we will also be targeting DDR2 based memory, Hard drives are good over 10GB and GPU's are always a plus along with CD/DVD drives.

Now take in mind we are not going to be targeting high priced items but we will break every possibility down to make the cheapest and most beneficial box we can at that time. I should also note it will be a bit before we build new rigs to give out to new hosts as our primary goal is to upgrade current project rigs.

Ditto with a where donations are needed could donate some parts to UK IC/SM rigs possibly along the lines of 20 GB HD, a D805 and stock cooler, ABIT SG 95 MOBO details needed

    A D805 OC'ed is a nice SMP setup :)

Agreed but the FSB on the ABIT board is maxed at 800 would be better with fsb of 1066 for clocking  Spike = dumbass didn't thunk properly:mad:

Doesnt matter what the FSB is. Use a ratio if you can to get the CPU speed up.

Basically what FAH wants is CPU speed. If your motherboard has options to run your RAM at one speed and your FSB at another you can remove your RAM as a limiting factor for an overclock because its running slower than your FSB.
