Desktop reboots after windows opening screen

I've got a 1.5Ghz P4 on an old desktop running XP home w/ SP2 fully updated.

For some reason, every time I turn it on now, the little worm goes across the bottom, the screen goes black and it reboots. I didn't change anything, it just happened. I can't get into safe mode or change any options because I don't have a PS/2 keyboard around, and I can't find my XP cd. What should I try to do?

Thanks,
John

(I think it's OS related because it goes through the boot loader, waits 30 seconds b/c previous startup failed, etc).

I found a Windows Upgrade cd, and it can't recognize the XP Home install so it's wanting an older version for verification... What do I do?

have you tested the memory? Or run chkdsk yet?

Ran chkdsk /p /r as per Rob's article... Everything seemed to be okay but it didn't fix anything, still rebooted after the wormy.

Will run memtest right now. Other OSes work fine though. Just Windblows having issues.
