Ok, I'm over at a family member's house trying to set up a Vista laptop on an XP network. When this was at my house it could see everything but only connect to one of them, Wonkaworld. I thought originally it was the name, so I changed the name of the computer it refused to connect to it. I'd figure that it'd need IPX, come to find out vista doesn't have IPX. So; I'm wondering what it would be? Pronto help fellas.

No, their main PC is a Compaq made Circa 2002-2003 and the new one's a vista laptop made by Gateway.

Please note I'm not an Vista expert.
on the vista computer, open properties of the network, advanced, click on object and look for 'everyone' double click that word, that moves it into the list along with admins, etc.

Unlike XP Vista requires you make shares and allocate
them to users. (Could be only on the Business Version-Not Sure)
You do this via right click computer and manage (users)

You may want to turn off IPv6 as well as it has issues with
routers that do not cater for it.

If it still gives you grief try disengaging the firewall 'till
    you get the network up.

Also on the XP machines try searching for your computer
name and also ping your IP address to make sure the
vista machine can be seen over the network.

    Hope this helps
