No Repair Option on Toshiba Laptop!

edited September 2007 in Hardware
Hello,

I have a huge presentation tomorrow night and of course my laptop crashed. I am getting the following error message: windows could not start because the following file is missing or corrup: \windows\system32\config\system

The problem is that when I boot from the recovery CD that came with my Toshiba Satellite I get two options: 1) Recovery of Factory Default Software (Recover to out-of-box state), or 2) Erase the hard disk. No repair option! I took a chance and clicked on Recovery of Faculty Default Software and that led me to a screen that asked if I was sure that I wanted to reformat my hard drive. This is the only disk I received when I purchased the laptop.

Any (quick!) suggestions?? I'm officially desperate and thank you in advance.

Michelle

You have a recovery CD. You have no option to repair, you only have the option to restore the PC to the factory default state.
