Use Mozilla FireFox You Dope + YouTube Banned

These messages pop out on my screen once i try to open mozilla and youtube respectively. i was instructed to use internet explorer instead. plus, the messages not only instruct me but also ban my access for mozilla totally as well as youtube. plz help me!:(

    Hi mai_hnf, and welcome to Icrontic!

    I'll need to see a HijackThis log...

    Download HJTInstall.exe to your Desktop.
    • Doubleclick HJTInstall.exe to install it.
    • By default it will install to C:\Program Files\Trend Micro\HijackThis .
    • Click on Install.
    • It will create a HijackThis icon on the desktop.
    • Once installed, it will launch Hijackthis.
    • Click on the Do a system scan and save a logfile button. It will scan and the log should open in notepad.
    • Copy/Paste the log to your next reply please.
    • Don't use the Analyse This button, its findings are dangerous if misinterpreted.
    • Don't have Hijackthis fix anything yet. Most of what it finds will be harmless or even required.

    Hi mai_hnf,

    Before we begin with the removal process, I'd like you to upload a file please.
    Now lets remove the infection...

    1. Make sure you can view hidden files and folders:
    • Click Start.
    • Open My Computer.
    • Select the Tools menu and click Folder Options.
    • Select the View Tab.
    • Under the Hidden files and folders heading select Show hidden files and folders.
    • Uncheck the Hide protected operating system files (recommended) option.
    • Click Yes to confirm.
    • Click OK.
    2. Open HiJackThis
    1. Click "Open the Misc Tools Section"
    2. Click "Open Process manager"
    3. Next, while holding down the CTRL key, locate each of the following exactly as seen below...

      • C:\heap41a\svchost.exe

    4. Now double-check and make sure that only those item(s) above are highlighted, then click "Kill process".
    5. Click "Refresh", and ensure the above process is not showing.
    3. With the same window still open...
    1. Click "Back" under Other stuff towards the bottom right.
    2. Now, towards the bottom left, under "Scan & fix stuff" press the Scan button.
    3. Please check the following entries, making sure there is a TICK inside the boxes

      R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Search,SearchAssistant =

      O4 - HKLM\..\Policies\Explorer\Run: [status] present
      O4 - HKLM\..\Policies\Explorer\Run: [winlogon] C:\heap41a\svchost.exe C:\heap41a\std.txt

      O6 - HKLM\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Restrictions present
      O6 - HKLM\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Control Panel present

    4. Close ALL open windows (Especially Internet Explorer!) and click Fix Checked.
    4. Download Flash_Disinfector.exe to your Desktop. Once downloaded, simply double-click the file to run the tool.

    5. Find and delete the following in RED, if found:

    C:\autorun.inf <-- File
    C:\heap41a <-- Folder

    Important: If you have more than one drive, then ensure that the above are not present in those. If they are, delete them too.

    6. Finally, post a new HijackThis log.

    i have another prob. i cannot view hidden files. once i open folder option and view toolbar, i check the option of view hidden files. but they just not turn up. plus, when i re-enter the view toolbar, that option is still unchecked, eventhough i have already check it before. i tried many many times but the outcome is still dissappointing... plzzz

    Please post a new HijackThis log.

    Also, open Notepad (Start > Run > type: notepad > OK)
    Copy everything in the Quote box below into Notepad
    regedit /e C:\look.txt "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Advanced\Folder\Hidden\SHOWALL"
    start notepad C:\look.txt
    Note: some words have been made bold due to forum software causing spaces between words. Do not worry about them.

    Now, go to File > Save as
    Save File name as "look.bat" (including the quotes)
    Save this to your Desktop, and then close Notepad.

    Now double-click look.bat on your Desktop and Notepad will open. Copy and paste the contents here. Don't forget a new HijackThis log.

    The look.bat file just appear in icon named 'look' only instead of 'look.bat'.. Is this wrong or right? and, the notepad file opened shows nothing at all..just blank document. Why?

    That is fine. It shows "look" and not "look.bat" because File extensions are hidden.
    and, the notepad file opened shows nothing at all..just blank document. Why?
    For some reason the code had a extra space when it shouldn't. I've corrected it below. Please follow the same previous steps to create this into a .bat file.

    Hi mai_hnf,

    Please do the following...

    1. Open Notepad
    Copy everything in the Quote box below into Notepad
    reg export "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Advanced\Folder\Hidden\SHOWALL" C:\look2.reg

    Now, go to File > Save as
    Save File name as "backup.bat" (including the quotes)
    Save this to your Desktop, and then close Notepad.

    Locate backup on your Desktop and double-click it. Nothing will appear to happen - that is normal!

    2. Open Notepad
    Copy everything in the Quote box below into Notepad
    REGEDIT4

    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Advanced\Folder\Hidden\SHOWALL]

    i'd done until the fix.bat stuff but the message of asking to merge to the Registry didnt appear. just nothing happen. plus, the hidden files still dissappointing.

    Oh sorry, my fault. :(

    The file should be named "Fix.reg" and not "Fix.bat".

    Please change this and try again.

    You can delete Flash Disinfector now. You should also the .bat and .reg we created.

    Delete C:\look.reg and C:\look2.reg

    Hi,

    Before I close the thread, you need to update Java. Older versions have vulnerabilities that malware can use to infect your system.

    Please follow these steps to remove older version Java components and update to the latest version...

    Updating Java:
    • Download the latest version of Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment 6u1.
    • Scroll down to where it says "The J2SE Runtime Environment (JRE) allows end-users to run Java applications".
    • Click the "Download" button to the right.
    • Check the box that says: "Accept License Agreement".
    • The page will refresh.
    • Click on the link to download Windows Offline Installation with or without Multi-language and save to your desktop.
    • Close any programs you may have running - especially your web browser.
    • Go to Start > Control Panel double-click on Add/Remove programs and remove all older versions of Java.
    • Check any item with Java Runtime Environment (JRE or J2SE) in the name.
    • Click the Remove or Change/Remove button.
    • Repeat as many times as necessary to remove each Java versions.
    • Reboot your computer once all Java components are removed.
    • Then from your desktop double-click on the download to install the newest version.
