Simple question, didn't know where to ask

when you turn the volume up or down on my laptop it used to show greens bars on the screen, increasing and decreasing.

VOLUME lllllll

one day the text changed and "volume" looked like some weird custom text almost italic.

Then the next day it just stopped showing up in general, and I cant figure out how to get them to come back.

can someone help me?

    If it's a Compaq, then the bars are part of the software for the 'one-touch' buttons. Try reinstalling those drivers and software.

    its an hp pavilion

    and I have no drivers or discs... It didn't even come with a windows disc

    unless the drivers are up for download somewhere.:scratch::confused:
