hey guys, im thinking of getting an ASUS A7N8X Deluxe 2.0 mobo with an AMD Athlon XP 2500+ (barton core) 333mhz fsb. I already have one kingston value ram 512mb which can run at pc2100 and also pc2700, (it has been running at pc2100). Can i just buy the same exact memory modual and use the dualddr option w/ them? If not, what are some good memory matches i can buy that arent too expensive and i can run dualddr w/o and problems, thx alot - BaLLeR. :)

Yes, you can just buy another stick of the same type and use dual channel.

Are you planning to overclock your 2500 to 3200 or beyond speeds? If you are, then that value ram will be sorely lacking. You will need to get some good, name-brand memory like Corsair XMS PC3200 or Kingston HyperX3500 for you to be able to run the ram the same speed as the fsb on the A7N8X. Also, you don't want to run the memory asynch. with your fsb speed on an AMD rig as performance takes a pretty big hit. If you are strapped for cash, then just buy 1 stick of good name brand high speed ram and run single cahnnel until you can afford to get another stick of ram.

    Word of advice:

    Use newegg.com not tigerdirect.com.

No, im not going to o/c my cpu because of some bad experiances i have had with o/c... ( i only o/c my graphic cards :) ) And one more question, will the CL2.5 that the memery sticks have cause any lack in performance? thx again - BaLLeR

p.s. dual channel ddr is better then running memory the regular way w/ the same fsb on the cpu and memroy? right?
