Help please! trojan horse mess!

help! I am not very technically literate, and I'm new to this forum, so i'll try to be as descriptive as possible. I am on a borrowed computer right now.

Last night my AVG Free ed. found a generic trojan in a temporary file. It made a backup copy and deleted the file. It was in Documents and Settings/....owner/local...tmp168140.tmp. I don't remember the whole path.

Now here's the really stupid thing I did: somewhere in my start menu I found a "Norton Firewall" that I didn't know I had. Then I installed it. Now I get a warning when I start my computer that an unauthorized program has turned off my firewall, that it can't turn it back on, then it tells me to uninstall it then reinstall to fix the problem. When I go to uninstall it, it freezes at the point where it validates the install (go figure). There is no cancel button; I can't close it; the computer will not turn off or restart. I have to unplug it to turn it off, and my mouse stops working. ctrl-alt-del tells me that Compaq Connections Agent is not responding; I don't know what that means, but given all that's happening it can't be good.

How can I uninstall this bogus Norton Firewall for good, and how can I fix the mess I've created? I've run other scans with AVG and Spybot since the trojan and they don't find anything else.

Nevermind...but thank you anyway. My husband was somehow able to get the faulty Norton firewall off the computer. I downloaded comodo firewall this morning. Everything seems to be okay at this moment.
