new graphics card for old computer

edited November 2007 in Hardware
hi, i have a very old computer with a 900mhz amd t-bird cpu and am looking to upgrade the old girl for the last time.

the motherboard only has 4X AGP but i'm looking at a geforce fx 5500 or 5200 which are still being manufactured.

does anyone have an opinion on these cards, will my computer handle them or are there any other recommendations.

thanks.

I think as long as it is compatible it can work well on it .

Get the 5500 over the 5200

I have seen some Radeon 9600pro cards for about $50.

What mobo are you running? If you really wanted to you might be able to find an XP1800+ or 2200+ CPU for it. A bit more speed and less heat. You see them new for less than $40.
