I think they are great, I never owned one myself but I've got a big laptop and these things are usually built for 15" screens or less.

Didn't we just have this thread? Didn't Thrax come in and say "Laptop cooling pads are a scam"? I think yes and yes, but if that was some alternate reality I'll be the first to say that I think laptop cooling pads are a waste of money and you can get almost the same performance out of a book or something propping up the back end of your laptop. Maybe I'm wrong; I'd like to see a comprehensive review of multiple cooling pads vs. said propping method.

Either way they will be a thing of the past soon as I recall reading not too long ago that a nano-tech company has developed a material that easily allows the passing of air through it, but not liquids which would allow laptops to pull all their air (and lots of it) through the keyboard area.

A cork heat pad for your stove-hot pots and pans will probably dissipate heat as quickly as any cooling pad and those cost .25 cents.

I want something to keep it away from my lap when Im sitting in chairs or anywhere in my house. Ill buy one in the near future and post my results with it. I'm not gonna tecnically review it and make an article out of it cause I dont do those type of things.

One of those bean-bag lap-desk would be ideal for just keeping it up off your legs.

But wouldnt a bean bag thing a ma jig suffocate my laptop, I like the idea of a notebook cooling pad and Im gonna try it if I dont like it Ill return it or send it back or whatever.

The whole thing is not a beanbag, it's a desk surface, with a beanbag bottom, so it's comfy on your lap. The ones made specifically for laptops have rubber ised tops to prevent the machine from sliding around, and little risers to help airflow.

They sell nice ones at Barnes and Noble's in my area.

My dad uses his laptop on a desk quite regularly, and it actually damaged itself through overheating (needed motherboard replacement). He now uses a laptop cooler, and it runs a lot cooler I have to admit . I personally use a magazine but my laptop runs a lot cooler (probably due to a more efficient design being newer and larger) :smiles:. Either is sufficient, a laptop cooler being sensible if your into all that "I have 8 fans on my PC case" thing
