TMP/TSS error on HP

Hey. I've recently got a problem occurring on my laptop. When I boot a message will pop up saying:

"HP ProtectTools Security Module.
A TMP or TSS error has occured. (0xe0280801)"

OK

I'm not quite sure what this protect-thing does, but I suspect it has something to do with my fingerprint scanner, even if it works OK. I have not noticed that anything behaves out of the ordinary, or has quit working. I have tried to restore my computer to a previous time, but that didn't seem to help. I'm running Vista Enterprise.
Thanks in advance, hope to get help for this one.

    TPM = Trusted Platform Module.

    To simplify it: This is a chip on your motherboard that tells the OS that this is indeed a genuine HP motherboard, among other things.

    If there's a problem with that, I don't even begin to know how to help you. I hope the machine is still under warranty.

    Doh! Could some of the almighty gods please change the title, if possible?...

    I changed it for you. Hopefully that will draw in someone with a clue, because unfortunately I'm clueless!

    I'm sure someone will come along with some ideas. Great title by the way!

    Any ideas at all? Ayone?

    Update: Thought I'd let you know wath I've done so far:

    Google. A search for TMP and TSS and a combination of those didn't make me any wiser, but I found a site for tampon safety...
    Update driver: graphics, sound, synaptics thing, fingerprint scanner.
    Send a mail to HP with the message in my first post and some info. No reply recieved.

    I don't see that any harm is done. Everything seems to run just fine, and I have noticed no problems with anything. It's just that message.
