pci slot : netgear wireless n adapter

edited October 2007 in Science & Tech
I recenly purchased a netgear wireless n adapter for my pci slot and my laptop doesn't seem to recognize it for some reason. When I tried installing the software that came with the adapter I got through the 1st step fine then the 2nd step was to insert the adapter into pci slot and click continue and I kept on receiving adapter not in slot message. lAnybody know of a driver that I am missing or somethng else that will make the adapter work?

Try pulling it out and putting it back in, maybe in another slot.

If it doesn't recognize and prompt you to install a driver:

    1) Your card is dead.

    - or -

    2) It's not seated firmly in the slot.
