VISTA and Wireless Internet access

Hi,
I am trying to set up a new vista laptop to see and connect to an existing Wireless Router.
I have input all the details of the Wireless connection - SSID, Password and it still does not connect.
I am thinking that it may be something to do with the type of network vista has allocated it - Public? I want to change it and vista help says :open the Network and Sharing Center and click Customize to do so.
However there is no Customize.
The network is not shown as available as the SSID is hidden

I dont know what else to do except uninstal vista amd put XP on it! I hate Vista so much, it is the worst and most unfriendly OS i have ever tried to use.

Any ideas anyone - please?

Click the start button (windows button) click "Connect To", click "Open Network and Sharing Center", click "Manage Wireless Networks", Select the network in question and click "Remove". Now attempt to re associate the machine with your wireless network. Hope this helps.
