Announced more than two years ago, Intel's new all-45nm fab in Chandler, AZ is set to open at long last. The first finalized products will be rolling off the line and ready for sale this November.

The new 45nm production plant, known as "Fab 32," will be Intel's sixth factory using 300mm wafers, but as it produces nothing but 45nm chips, will be the first of its kind. With AMD more than eight months behind Intel on the transition to 45nm, the grand opening of Fab 32 will surely put AMD share-holders in a tizzy.

The the newest entrant to the 45nm club employs more than one thousand workers, and will soon be joined by retrofits of the Rio Rancho, NM and Kiryat Gat, Israel fabs.
