Help with Trojan.Fakealert.LV

Hi there,

Yesterday my Norton program gave me a warning that I had a virus but then couldn't remove it. Thus I ran the AFTCleaner, Ad Aware SE and then both Panda and Bit Defender scans. Panda called the virus a generic Trojan whereas BitDefender identified it as Trojan.Fakealert.LV but could not remove it. I can't get to the file the scans are identifying.

What follows are the Hijack This Log, the Bid Defender log and the panda Activescan log.

Symantec calls this virus Mislead.App virus. BitDefender calls it Trojan.Fakealert. In either case i can't seem to get rid of it...

    Hi,

There is nothing malicious in your HijackThis log. The Generic Trojan found by Panda should be removed with ATF Cleaner. I'd like you to run one other scan...

Please do an online scan with Kaspersky WebScanner

That is clean too. Your computer is clean as the scans don't reveal any infections.
  • edited November 2007
That's interesting because the Kaspersky window itself says there is one infection - as the log above states one virus found. Is this a false positive?

    Thanks!!

    Hi,

Kaspersky only detected SmitfraudFix, so yes it is a false positive. You can delete SmitfraudFix too.

Let me know if you have any other questions.
