Freezing PC

edited November 2007 in Science & Tech
Hi All
Soltek MBO, 256MB SDRAM, 13.5GB HD, 500MHz CPU, OS WINXP Pro SP2.

PC behaving queerily when pc boots up to Windows and left unattended for more than 1 minute, the PC freezes . Ctl-Alt-Del not working, HDD spinning and cpu fan working under this condition. After switching off and rebooting, I found out that by running WMP10,PC will work normally.Any ideas anyone please.

Open up your case and look at the electrolytic capacitors on your motherboard; they are the cylindrical-shaped components with shiny silver tops. If any of the tops are swollen or leaking you will need to buy a new computer.

Does it do the same in safe mode - if not, could be that wmp has changed your video/graphic settings.

Tks all. Fault traced to faulty MBO.
