Today, NVIDIA is pulling the wraps off of their new Enthusiast System Architecture (ESA) protocol. The ESA suite allows devices such as the chassis, water cooling and power supply to communicate directly and present the results to the end-user. Traditionally, each of these components had monitoring applications as independent as the devices themselves.

Unlike most NVIDIA initiatives, such as MXM, this standard is fully open and comes flanked by HP, Dell, CoolerMaster, and Falcon Northwest (Amongst others). It is hoped that ESA will be implemented industry-wide to provide enthusiasts with a single point of accurate information for data such as flow rate, fan RPM, voltage and temperature.

Hopefully bling and function can make a sweet ESA baby.

ESA-enabled devices are expected to cost 300% more than their non-ESA counterparts, and will interface with the most disgustingly-gaudy UI ever created. It is rumored that the UI engineers at GigaByte will be drafted to create the monitoring application, and it will be crafted from the souls of dead crayola crayons.
