socket error 10060

hi
i am getting the above error message when i try to update /search for updates in search and destroy.also am unable to get a connection using incredimail,cannot recieve my e mails.i had a warning from avg anti spyware that i had a trojan ,this was deleted.my pc seems ok ,bit slow.i have run avg and adaware all are clean.
help warby
i am also getting ,application failed to initialise 0*c0000005 on start up ?

tried to download but when i went to open the file the message read .failed to open could not read dynamic link library.

but got message-procedure entry point _Clcos could not be found dynamic link library msvbum60.dll

Try this to repair your VB6 installation:

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/290887


Then reboot, run the winsockfix, reboot again and test.



If that doesn't work I'd move on to a repair install unless you're familiar with expanding /replacing and then registering files from your OS installation CD.

You very well may have removed the malware but it's obviously already damaged or replaced some windows critical files.

i can get my emails now ,and pc seems faster.the only problem i can see is i am having trouble logging on to certain web sites,preloved for example times out where as ebay is ok?

That may be a security setting issue, plugin issue, etc with internet explorer. You may want to try resetting iexplorer to its defaults. It will require fresh login to all web pages. There's also on the same screen the ability to manage the ixplorer plugins. There could still be a piece of malware installed there, not all of them are removed by spybot.

from M$'s website:
