Sorry not familiar with the acronym ET that you are referring to. Though the description of your problem sounds like it's failing software validation, which usually means that it's a pirated program and that code is already in use.

Yes and No, the connection to the server that it is trying to make is going to be on a specific port, if the firewall is blocking the port from the outside in, then the server cannot return the request from your PC to the game software.

You were able to download because that happens on Port 80 usually or port 21 (FTP) which allows the connection for download.

I don't know if that was supposed to be sarcastic or not and I'm going with not because I'm having a pretty decent day.

Did you know that ET makes six connections while you're just in the lobby?! I bet you didn't! I know just because it uses Gamespy!

1: Gamespy version checker server. Checks the version of the game and will tell you if there's a new version.
2: Gamespy login system. So you can log into your gamespy account
3: Independent ad system. (Not available in some games.)
4: GS General Traffic. For chatting.
5: Game enumerator server. So you can see servers.
6: Individual authentication servers. So you're not stealing games, son.

When you connect to a server, you cut three of those six, 2, 4 and 5. Version checker cuts itself after it checks your version, and Ads don't stop.

What may or may not be happening, is you're not making the sixth connection within the timeout window.

I will try to play ET later and if i still cant then ill get back to you lot, thanks again. :)

By turning it off. Who the hell needs a firewall anyway? I don't even run one. I'm outside the firewall on my network, and I'm not using one. The need for one is over-rated. Hell, I barely run a virus scanner. And by barely, I mean I have it installed, but it's off.

    That's not good advice.

What firewall are you running? Are you behind a router?

    :dunce:

Please excuse Your Amish Daddy's advice on the firewall. You turn off your firewall on an unsecured network and you're asking for a bunch of Asshats to come snooping through your PC. Probably become a breeding ground for some real crappy viruses or file sharing.

Please... leave the firewall on and work with us to fine tune it, if that's even the problem.

I've tried to use it with the firewall turned off, had the same problem. So that isnt the problem, i did get onto one map but was kicked within seconds due to punkbuster, even though im not useing any sort of hacks.

    Umm...Help lol?

Yeah I'm sorry about earlier...My medication isn't working like it's supposed to. Best thing I can say to do, is re-register for it and get a different key.

    Hi there!

Are you trying to play this on vista or xp. For vista a quick google search brought up this: right mouse click on et icon and then run as admin. Maybe it will help?

I'm not sure but i think the problem here has to do with being wireless.
The reason I say that is because I currently have a similar problem (although not the exact same). Enemy territory runs fine on my pc that is hardwired to my router, but it won't find and servers on my pc that uses a wireless connection. Hope this helps. If you manage to solve this problem, Please post the solution here, because it might help me solve my problem.

I went into my internet setting and allowed access for the program just after i downloaded knowing that access would have been block so this wasnt my problem, 'Right Click Run As Admin' Solved my problem, but i do get some harsh lag in alot of servers even though my ping stays relatively low does anyone know why this is?

I also solved my problem. Basically, my network settings were only allowing all UDP connections outgoing. But what it needs is outgoing and incoming, so when the servers tried to respond my network blocked them.
    Works fine now :)
