Hey there,

I have just bought Gears of War and it keeps crashing out!

I have updated my graphcs and video drivers but I keep getting the vista "Gears of War has stopped working" error message

Any one got any ideas what could be causing it?

Cheers

Have you downloaded the latest patches for GOW? Have you tried to uninstall, remove all folders associated with GOW (important!), and then reinstall? Are you using any form of crack or trainer, or other 3rd party program with the game?

    Vista?

Try running as admin, see if that helps. Google search on this one is sporadic, at best. :-/

I have tried reinstalling and it is a legal copy no other mods or packs. I cant find any patches but I believe it should just patch itself automatically with a windows live account. I have admin rights on the computer.

This is really bugging me. The only thing I can think is to update the rest of my MB drivers.

If it's Vista, I think it makes a difference if you right click and select "run as admin" even if you technically are an admin. Worth a try, anyway. I don't use Vista myself, so I could be completely off my rocker. :)

I will give that a go.

I did find a link in the FAQ saying that "Certain hardware configurations would stop working with Vista" and there was a Windows hotfix which resolved this.

Unfortuantely it gave no info on the configs that cause the problems and when I installed the hot fix and four other optional vista updates my system refused to shut down and now wont boot!!!!

I can get in safe mode so will have to do a system restore over the weekend then try and reinstall the updates. if that doesn't work then I will try reinstalling as admin.

    GRRRRRR!

Im a Vista user and on all my video games i have to *RightClick 'Run as Admin' for it to work properly.

Dont restore windows just restore your computer to the last time it was working properly *New Vista Option I Think*
    Then try the upper advice.
