Vista reporting incorrect disk space

Hi folks,

I'm having a problem with Vista reporting incorrect amounts of free space on my main C drive. I know that I only have 35gigs worth of data on there as it's a clean install but Vista is reporting that 100 gigs or so is in use which is simply impossible. I had exactly this same issue on my last install of Vista only to a lesser extent. IOt's like I'm deleting files, and not getting the space back.

Any ideas?

TIA

Do you have lots of data available to you on a network share? I ask because I directed my "Music" and "Videos" folders to point to a network location and Vista automatically flagged them to be synchronized and available offline. Ate all my disc space real quick.

No I know what it is now. It's shadow copy. I have 4 complete backups of my drive on there. Just trying to find out how to delete them and disable thefeature.

Something like this happended to me when I first got Vista. The computer came with Vista Basic installed, but my school says I have to have Enterprise. So I just installed Enterprise, and it told me it would format the HD. When I got into Enterprise I was shocked to see how little disc space was left. It seemed like Enterprise didn't format, because Basic was still on my HD. I had to run Disc Cleaner to get it away.
