How do I Set up this Raid array?

I want to set up a Raid 1 array.

I have an ASUS P5GDC M'bd with an onboard ITE 8212F Raid Controller (PATA).

The ASUS M'bd user's guide claims that for Raid 1 you can use 2 new drives or 1 new drive and an existing drive.

Does "existing drive" mean a drive with an OS and data already on it?

If it does this is very confusing because when I try to define an array using the ITE Raid Utility it tells me I am about to lose all of my data on the disk.

Does anyone know how to go about doing this?

    Thats a tough question. When you boot your computer is there an option Like "f12 or CTRL+S" to access the raid controller?

    Yes that is the Utility I am speaking about.
