In response to allegations that a Samsung Group financial firm had created a slush fund to bribe influential figures, state prosecutors in Seoul, South Korea raided Samsung Securities Co. on Friday local time.

The raid was spurred by the belief that the allegations would incite the destruction of evidence in this situation. The slush fund in question is purportedly more than $215m USD in size, and has allegedly been used on judges, prosecutors and lawmakers.

Kim Yong-chul, a former top lawyer for Samsung, went public with the claims earlier in the month. As a result, two civic groups have filed multiple lawsuits against Samsung.

This is a little tough to hear. Some fine products come out of Samsung- and I'd like to see more. It's sorta hard to do if a lot of your DP is caught up in corporate antics and legal wrangling.
